If by now you haven’t heard, the verdict for Eric Garner’s case to be taken into a court room has been announced. Staten Island’s grand jury hopped on the Ferguson bandwagon deciding not to indict Daniel Pantaleo, the police officer responsible for the death of Garner.
The horrific incident took place in July in Staten Island, New York. After a scuffle with cops on the scene, Garner was subsequently choked to death which eventually documented as a homicide. Despite visual evidence, Pantaleo was let off the hook, leading to more public outcry and protests today.
Esaw Garner, the widow of the deceased man aired her grievances to cameras at a press conference. When asked does she accept condolences? “Hell no” was her response, “The time for remorse would have been when my husband was screaming “I can’t breathe” 11 times”.
